National Drug Intelligence Unit starts working
The National Drug Intelligence Unit (NDIU) became operational on 1 September 2004.
The unit was set up under the PHARE project Developing and Implementing a National Anti-Drugs Strategy, implemented in partnership with the UK and coordinated by the Bulgarian Interior Ministry. The NDIU comprises representatives of the relevant services of the Ministry of the Interior, the Customs Agency and the Financial Intelligence Agency, which makes its structure unique for Bulgaria; the NDIU staff received training also with the support of the UK.
