Welcome to the EU section of MoI

   Welcome to the EU-section of the website of the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Bulgaria. This section is devoted entirely to the country’s integration in the European Union in the field of Justice and Home Affairs. Justice and Home Affairs is one of the most important and sensitive components of the so-called acquis communautaire of the European Union. In October 2003 the European Union decided that Bulgaria has fulfilled all its obligations in the field of Justice and Home Affairs, which objective is to develop the EU as an "area of freedom, security and justice."

You will find information about the reforms, changes and policies implemented in the field of Justice and Home Affairs. Furthermore, the website provides information, including the full text of official documents, about national policies in areas such as border control, illegal migration, drug trafficking and money laundering, organized crime, police and judicial cooperation with EU countries, data protection, and the mutual recognition of court judgements.

The website also provides useful information about how these changes affect the life of Bulgarian citizens as well as EU citizens visiting, working or living in the country.
